Greetings, All.

First off, congratulations to the Alford Memorial Radio Club. These fine folks just hit their 25th anniversary as an ARRL affiliated club. (May y'all have many more!)

Conditions may not have been stellar, but from all reports, it sounds like this year's GA QSO party was another rousing success. Thanks to the SE Contesting Club and SEDX Club for working so hard to put GA on the operating map, and to all of you who were able to attend the party.

Talking about the SEDX Club, tonight's meeting will offer a terrific opportunity to see what promises to be an excellent presentation on the recent DX-pedition to Desecheo Island. DX-pedition team members BOB ALLPHIN, K4UEE, BILL BARR, N4NX, and GEORGE NICHOLSON, N4GRN, will be giving their first-hand reports on all of the behind-the-scenes negotiations and planning that went into making this trip possible, as well as a full account of their experiences in operating from this unusual and potentially explosive location. The meeting will be held at the Fuqua Heart Center at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta at 7:30 PM. For more info, please see www.sedxc.org

If you can't make it to the meeting, there's going to be a show on TV tonight that might be of interest to you. At 8PM, WSB will be airing a special program entitled, "Are You Ready? Georgia Tornadoes". With the way the weather has been lately, this sounds like a worthwhile program for all of us.(And thanks to BARRY KANNE, W4TGA, for letting me know about it.)

The North GA Public Health exercise which was outlined in the April newsletter was postponed. Originally scheduled for April 14, the exercise is still in the planning stages, and will be held at a later date. BILL DICKERT, KD4EKZ, still has a seat at the planning table, and will continue to coordinate with ECs in the affected counties.

The global SET will be held this Saturday, April 18, and it's a pleasure to report that the GEMA SOC has been registered as an official participant. The WX4GMA station will be manned by BILL CHERUPY, WB4WTN, and LOWRY ROUSE, KM4Z. Thanks to both of them for representing us.

COMING UP: April 25 - the Calhoun Hamfest, sponsored by the Cherokee Capital ARS, at the Sugar Valley Community Center, 3295 Sugar Valley Road. 8AM- 2PM. Hope to see you there. For more info, please see www.k4woc.com

SILENT KEY: GEORGE "SONNY" GRANT, KF4WPU.

Heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

Well, folks, that's about it for now. Until next time, this is AF4FO, signing clear. Take care of yourselves. And each other. 73, Susan
